CHESS KLUB conducts various camps, events & tournaments. There are several opportunities to volunteer. Qualified volunteers can even count their volunteer hours towards the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Event Support and Logistics

  • Setup Assistance: Help with setting up chess boards, clocks, and any other necessary equipment before the event begins.

  • Registration Support: Assist with participant check-in, registration confirmation, and distributing event materials.

  • Equipment Management: Ensure that all equipment (chess boards, clocks, score sheets) is properly distributed, maintained during the event, and collected afterward.

  • Venue Organization: Help arrange seating, tables, and maintain cleanliness throughout the event. Ensure the venue remains safe and orderly.

Participant Assistance

  • Prize Distribution: Aid in handing out prizes, certificates, or recognition at the end of the event.

General Event Support

  • Crowd Control: Help ensure parents and spectators do not disrupt the event or distract participants.

  • Supervision: Assist in supervising participants during breaks, ensuring their safety and appropriate behavior.

  • Post-Event Cleanup: Assist in cleaning up the venue after the event, ensuring all materials are collected and the space is left in good condition.

  • Arrival: Volunteers are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes before the event begins to assist with setup and preparation.

  • Time Commitment: Volunteers should remain for the entirety of their shift or as assigned. If unable to attend, notice must be given as early as possible to the event coordinator.

  • Dedicated Participation: Volunteers are expected to commit fully to their roles and fulfill all tasks assigned to them during the event.

  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff members to ensure smooth event operation. Be flexible and willing to take on various roles as needed.

  • Clear and Respectful Communication: Volunteers must communicate clearly with staff, participants, and other volunteers. Any issues or questions should be raised promptly with the event coordinator.

  • Coordination: Volunteers should maintain open communication with the event team, ensuring they are available and responsive throughout the event.

  • Conflict Resolution: If any disputes or challenges arise during the event, volunteers are expected to handle them calmly and escalate them to staff if necessary.

  • Dress Code: Volunteers are expected to wear neat, appropriate attire that aligns with the professional image of CHESS KLUB, preferably with a branded shirt or event-specific clothing.

  • Volunteer Training: Volunteers must attend any pre-event briefings or training sessions to ensure they are familiar with their responsibilities and the event procedures.

  • Code of Conduct: Volunteers are expected to uphold the CHESS KLUB code of conduct, ensuring a respectful and positive environment for all attendees. Any form of disruptive behavior or neglect of duties will result in removal from the event.
